A little less than one year after the military takeover that ousted President Mamadou Tandja, Nigerien voters head to the polls today to vote in presidential and legislative elections. If this round does not produce a clear presidential victor, a run-off election will take place March 14. The military intends the transition to civilian rule to conclude by April 6.
My preview of the elections can be found here. If you are on the ground in Niger or see a useful link, please let us know in the comments section.
